Le Morne is the postcard, and unlike most postcards it holds up. The public beach is free to enter. What catches people out is the wind, which builds through the afternoon almost every day and turns a flat morning lagoon into chop by two o clock.
Getting there
Without a car, take the bus toward Baie du Cap and get off at Le Morne village, then walk about twenty minutes. Buses stop running back around 6.30pm, so a sunset here means arranging a taxi.
When to go
Arrive before ten. The water is flattest, the light is best against the mountain, and the parking area is not yet full.
